The SCPOA has continued to strongly advocate and lobby for support for Binding Arbitration for Suffolk County Probation Officers. On March 25, 2009 , Assemblyman Abbate and on April 27, 2009, Senator Foley introduced our bill to their prospective committees in Albany. This bill remains active in Albany for two years. In order to proceed in Albany, each year we must acquire a Home Rule Message from our local Suffolk County Legislators declaring their support for Binding Arbitration for Suffolk County Probation Officers.
I am happy to inform you that on February 2, 2010, the Legislature unanimously (18-0) voted once again to approve our Home Rule Message. Home Rule Message #2 will be forwarded to Albany where it will be distributed amongst the appropriate officials. We appreciate the support of all our Legislators especially those who sponsored our Home Rule Message: Presiding Officer Lindsay and Legislators Losquadro, Browning, Eddington, and Muratore. The SCPOA will continue to diligently pursue our quest for Binding Arbitration. |
